Meghan Murtagh ’03

(She/Her/Hers)

Employment and Postgraduate Planning Specialist

Helping young people identify their strengths and passions, and develop their personal road map to success is what motivates Meghan each day at NLIS.   Inspired by their perseverance and abilities, Meghan is passionate about identifying innovative ways to support students’ individual goals for post graduation outside of the classroom.  Working with community partners, the business community, youth development agencies and municipal agencies, Meghan pushes NLIS students to experiences and opportunities that help develop skills, build social capital and influence pathways.

Meghan was born and raised in Salem, attended Salem Public Schools and graduated from Salem High School in 2003.   Meghan went on to study secondary education at Merrimack College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree.  Meghan has spent 15 years in youth development, working as the Program Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, Program Director with LEAP for Education, Internship & Employment Coordinator for Mass General Brigham, Salem Hospital and recently serving as the Director of Youth Services for the City of Newton.  Additionally, Meghan completed her M.Ed. from Merrimack in early 2020.

Outside of school Meghan enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dog Macy on the beach, Crossfit and adventures with her partner (he is also a Salem Witch, class of 03!)

Meghan is excited to be back working in her community, at New Liberty Innovation School!
